Puma Court, Spitalfields

Puma court is an ancient alley and was previously named Red Lyon court and then named Lamb court.

Opposite the almshouses 4 houses built around 1740 (I have captured one in my third photo in this post). This particular ghost sign reads Jones’s Tea Rooms ☕️ This captures a rare survival in 18th century urban dwellings and is the last surviving alley of small weavers houses in Spitalfields.

Norton Folgate Almshouses were erected in 1860 for the inhabitants of the liberty of Norton Folgate in place of those built in 1728 as they were demolished for widening of the road towards Liverpool Street.
